Underground Camping in Coober Pedy, South Australia

CHECK. THIS. OUT.

Probably the most unique camping experience you can get.. UNDERGROUND CAMPING!!!! This two minute video is of our underground site for 2 nights in Coober Pedy, South Australia. Around 50% of the population live in ‘dugouts’ under the ground where the temperature is at a constant 23 degrees. This is perfect on a day like the one we filmed this video where it was 38 degrees!

Camping here costs $15 a night each and is for people with tents or happy to sleep on a mattress on the ground (like us). They do have powered sites but these are not underground. The TV / Internet Room is a separate underground dugout and the camp kitchen and amenities are above ground. There was only us and 1 other group the nights we were there. SO COOL! Literally.

Name: Ribas Underground Camping & Caravan Park

Location: About 5km’s out of Coober Pedy

Cost for underground camping:

$15 per person per adult night (unpowered)
$12 per child per night (unpowered)

Facilities: Toilets, showers, camp kitchen, TV room with WIFI, drinking water

Coober Pedy is such an interesting town to visit
